A Historic Building.
A Living River.
A Different Kind
of Recovery.
Pineville, Missouri sits at the bend of the Elk River — the kind of town where the air smells like cedar and creek water and the hills hold a particular quiet. We're opening Root & River here, inside one of Pineville's most storied historic buildings, because we believe where you heal matters as much as how you heal.
We offer the same recovery technology you'd find in an urban biohacking studio — red light panels, a halotherapy salt room, sauna and steam, a brain recovery room — but grounded in something those sterile city spaces can't manufacture: place. Real place, with roots in the Ozark soil.
Alongside the recovery rooms you'll find our working apothecary, stocked with herbal blends, salves, and tinctures drawn from Ozark plant traditions. A farm-to-table café serves fresh meals and seasonal drinks sourced from farms within 60 miles. A market carries local food and our herbal products. And throughout the year, cooking classes and herbal counseling sessions connect you to the seasonal wisdom of this land.
"We let this river valley teach us — and then we share what it knows."

Every Room.
One Purpose: Restoration.
Six modalities, one historic building. Each experience stands on its own — together they restore body, mind, and spirit in a way no single service can.
Red Light Therapy
Full-body photobiomodulation panels accelerate cellular repair, ease inflammation, and restore vitality at the source.
Halotherapy Salt Room
Pharmaceutical-grade salt air clears airways, calms skin, and quiets the nervous system — breathe deeper than you have in years.
Finnish Sauna & Steam
Traditional dry sauna and eucalyptus steam rooms raise core temperature, flush toxins, and leave you profoundly calm.
Brain Recovery Room
Guided neurofeedback and cranial light sessions restore focus, ease anxiety, and train your mind toward its clearest state.
Herbal Apothecary
Our in-house apothecary stocks hand-crafted tinctures, salves, and botanical blends drawn from Ozark plant traditions.
Farm-to-Table Café
Fresh seasonal salads, nourishing homestyle plates, and herbal drinks — sourced from Ozark farms within 60 miles of the river.
Four things we
believe about healing.
Rooted in Place
Everything here — the herbs, the food, the building itself — comes from or belongs to the Ozark landscape. We don't import a wellness formula from a city. We let this river valley teach us.
Ancient Knowledge, Modern Tools
Halotherapy, red light, and neurofeedback sit beside wild-crafted tinctures and cast-iron cooking. The goal is the same: help your body remember how to heal.
Community as Medicine
Our cooking classes, herbal counseling sessions, and seasonal market gather neighbors and travelers alike. Healing is rarely a solo act — it happens in kitchens and at long tables.
The Historic Building as Partner
Pineville's River City building has held generations of commerce, conversation, and community. We honor that history in every room — old stone walls, warm wood, the smell of herbs and good food.
Ozark Apothecary
Plant medicine,
hand-crafted
from Ozark roots.
Our apothecary stocks tinctures, salves, and botanical blends formulated in-house from wild-crafted and locally grown herbs. Every product is paired with transparent sourcing and the herbal knowledge to use it well.
